About Eid al-Adha
Eid al-Adha, the 'festival of sacrifice' (Bakrid or Id-ul-Zuha in India), honours the story of Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son. It coincides with the end of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. Families perform Qurbani, sharing the meat with relatives and people in need.
It moves about 11 days earlier each year. The dates here are the expected dates for India, which can differ by a day from the Gulf.
