About the YouTube Money Calculator

YouTube pays creators in the Partner Program a share of ad and Premium revenue: 55% of long-form ad revenue. The number that turns views into income is RPM, revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube's share, counting views that showed no ads. Earnings = views × RPM ÷ 1,000. At the 2026 all-niche median of about $2.30, 100,000 views earn about $230.

RPM depends heavily on the topic. The niche presets use medians and typical ranges (the middle 50%) from AIR Media-Tech's 2026 study of verified Studio data from 300 channels, covering May 2025 to May 2026. Education and science led with a median of $10.22, gaming was $2.05 and kids' content $0.33. Several niches in that study had fewer than ten channels, so treat their figures as rough. Audience country matters as much as niche: US, UK, Canadian and Australian viewers earn several times more than the global average, and Q4 pays the most.

If your channel is monetised, type your own RPM from YouTube Studio (Analytics → Revenue) for a much better estimate. The tables show earnings at other view counts and what the same views would earn in other niches. To join the Partner Program for ad revenue you currently need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 public watch hours in a year. YouTube announced in August 2026 that new applicants from 1 February 2027 will need 8,000 watch hours.

Frequently asked questions

6 answers
How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?
That's your RPM. Across 300 monetised channels in 2026 the median was about $2.30 per 1,000 views, ranging from about $0.33 for kids' content to over $10 for education and science. Shorts pay far less, typically $0.07–$0.20.
How much does a YouTuber with 1 million views make?
At the $2.30 median, about $2,300 from ads. A finance or education channel with a US audience could earn several times that, and a kids' or Shorts-heavy channel far less.
What percentage does YouTube take?
YouTube keeps 45% of long-form ad revenue and pays creators 55%. For Shorts, creators receive 45% of their share of the Shorts revenue pool.
Why do my views earn less than the calculator says?
RPM swings with audience country, season, video length (mid-roll ads need 8 minutes or more), ad-friendliness and how much of your traffic comes from Shorts. Use your own Studio RPM for accuracy.
What are the requirements to get paid on YouTube?
For ad revenue today: 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. YouTube announced that new applicants from 1 February 2027 will need 8,000 watch hours or 20 million Shorts views.
Is anything I type sent to PayPal, Stripe or anyone else?
No. The fee schedules are built into the page and every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you enter leaves your device.
