How it works

The age calculator measures the span between two dates the way people naturally count age: whole years first, then the leftover months, then the remaining days. It borrows correctly across month boundaries — when the end day is earlier in the month than the start day, it takes the number of days from the actual previous month rather than assuming every month is 30 days.

Set the "from" date to a birthday and leave "to" as today to get an exact current age. Because months vary in length and leap years add a day, this calendar-based method is more accurate than dividing total days by 365.

The tool also shows the total distance in days, weeks, and hours. If the "to" date is in the future, it automatically switches to countdown mode and tells you how long remains — useful for tracking a deadline, due date, or event. All dates are handled locally in your browser.

Examples

Born 1990-06-15, today → age shown as exact years, months, and days.
From today to 2026-12-25 → a live countdown in days, weeks, and hours.
Between two project dates → total working span at a glance.

Frequently asked questions

How is age calculated across months of different lengths?
When the end day is earlier than the start day, the tool borrows the real number of days from the preceding month, so the result reflects the actual calendar rather than a fixed 30-day assumption.
Does it account for leap years?
Yes. Because it counts real calendar dates rather than dividing by 365, leap days are naturally included in the day totals.
Can I count down to a future date?
Yes. If the 'to' date is later than today or the 'from' date, the tool switches to countdown mode and shows how long remains.
Is this medical or legal advice?
No. It's a general date calculator for everyday use and shouldn't be relied on for official age determinations.
