How it works

Meta tags live in the <head> of a page and tell search engines and social platforms how to display it. Getting them right improves how your link looks in Google results and when shared on social media. This generator builds the three sets that matter most.

The SEO basics include the title, meta description, canonical URL, and a robots directive. The Open Graph tags (used by Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and many others) control the title, description, image, and type of the shared card. The Twitter Card tags do the same for posts on X/Twitter, using a large-image summary card.

As you type, the tool live-counts your description length and warns if it exceeds the ~160-character sweet spot where search engines start truncating. It escapes special characters so quotes and ampersands in your text won't break the HTML, then produces a clean block you can copy straight into your page's head. Provide an absolute image URL sized 1200×630 for the best-looking social previews.

Examples

Fill title + description + URL → get valid <title>, og:*, and twitter:* tags.
Add an image URL → social shares show a large preview card.
Description over 160 chars → a gentle length warning appears.

Frequently asked questions

How long should my meta description be?
Aim for about 150–160 characters. Longer descriptions get truncated in search results, so front-load the important words and keep a clear call to action.
What is a canonical URL and do I need one?
It's the preferred address for a page, which prevents duplicate-content issues when the same content is reachable at multiple URLs. Setting it is good practice.
Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?
Open Graph covers most platforms, and Twitter falls back to it, but adding twitter:card ensures a large-image preview on X. Including both is safest.
What image size works best for social sharing?
1200×630 pixels is the recommended size for a large summary card across most platforms.
