How it works

Discord doesn't have a colour button, but it does render ANSI colour codes inside a special code block. If you wrap your text in a ```ansi block with the right escape codes, Discord shows it in colour on desktop and web.

This generator writes those codes for you. Pick a text colour, an optional background, and bold, and it builds the exact block — copy it and paste it into a Discord message. The preview shows roughly how it'll look.

One caveat: ANSI colours render in the Discord desktop and browser apps; the mobile app displays the colours when reading but doesn't let you compose them. It all runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Examples

Red bold "Warning" → a ```ansi``` block that shows up red in Discord.
Cyan text on a dark-blue background for a standout announcement.

Frequently asked questions

How do you make colored text in Discord?
Discord renders ANSI colour codes inside a ```ansi code block. This tool writes that block for you — pick a colour and copy it, then paste it into a Discord message on desktop or web.
Does Discord colored text work on mobile?
The colours show up when reading on mobile, but the mobile app doesn't let you compose ANSI blocks. Create the block on desktop or web (or with this tool) and it displays for everyone.
What colours can I use?
The ANSI set Discord supports: gray, red, green, yellow, blue, pink, cyan and white text, plus several background shades, with an optional bold style.
Why does my colored text show as plain code?
Make sure the message is a ```ansi code block (this tool adds that automatically) and that you're viewing it in the Discord desktop or web app, which render ANSI colours.
