How it works

Enter any combination of hours, minutes and seconds, then press Start. The large display counts down in real time, and because it is anchored to the wall-clock end time rather than a naive tick loop, it stays accurate even if the tab is briefly throttled in the background.

Pause freezes the remaining time so you can resume exactly where you left off, and Reset returns the display to whatever you last entered. When the timer reaches zero it shows a clear "Time's up!" message and plays a short beep using your browser's built-in audio, so you get both a visual and an audible cue.

It's ideal for cooking, workouts, study sprints, presentations, or timeboxing any task. Everything runs locally in your browser — no app to install and no data leaves your device. If your browser blocks audio the countdown and the on-screen alert still work.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. It tracks the real end time, so when you return the display corrects itself and the alarm still fires close to the right moment.
Why didn't I hear a beep?
Some browsers block audio until you interact with the page. The visible 'Time's up!' message always appears; pressing Start counts as an interaction and usually unlocks sound.
Can I set more than one hour?
Yes, hours accept values up to 99, so you can time long tasks as well as quick ones.
Is anything saved or uploaded?
No. The timer runs entirely in your browser and stores nothing, so nothing is sent anywhere.
What happens if I press Start with everything at zero?
The tool shows a short prompt asking you to set a time above zero rather than starting an instant, useless countdown.
